There’s something about Salsa music that has always stirred something deep inside me. Corny but true. The rhythms, the melodies – they’ve always make my heart soar, it’s a complete joy.
Salsa isn’t just music to me – it’s a feeling, a way of connecting, a source of pure happiness. There’s a flutter in my stomach every time I hear a song start to play, and I can’t help but move. It’s a joy I’ve always wanted to share with others, which is why I started teaching. I want to give back and hopefully, show people how Salsa can make such a difference to your state of mind, just as it has mine.
After over 15 years of dancing, Salsa has given me so much more than just steps and technique. It’s changed me both physically and mentally, helping me to be healthier, happier, and more connected to an incredible community. Before I found Salsa, all my nights out involved the typical clubbing, binge drinking (I was a lot younger 🙂). Now, my life is filled with energy, good vibes and the warmth of a great salsa family.
That’s why I’m so excited about this chapter for SalsaJoy.
New Classes at Emersons Green Village Hall
SalsaJoy is moving to new venues, starting new classes, and continuing to build the beautiful, inclusive community that makes Salsa so special.
Starting October 14th, a new 5 week block of Beginner Salsa classes at Emersons Green Village Hall, Bristol. I know it can be intimidating to start something new, but if you’ve ever thought about trying Salsa – now is the perfect time! These classes will be a warm, safe, and a fun space for absolute beginners, where we’ll cover the basics, build up your confidence & technique, and most importantly, have a great time.
Each class will be a progressive journey, meaning that we’ll build on what we’ve learned from week to week. Don’t worry if you have to miss a session, though! I always recap, so you won’t feel lost. However, I do recommend attending the first class if you can – it’s where we’ll cover those essential first steps that set the foundation for everything else.

I’m also thrilled to announce a new venue for the monthly SalsaJam party, Frenchay Village Hall, Bristol, starting this October 18th. Our new space is not only more accessible, with great transport links and ample parking, but it’s also a beautiful environment where we can dance the night away, it's also B-Y-O, so feel free to bring drinks to keep you well hydrated.
I’ve always believed that a Salsa party is that space where everyone comes together relaxes and simply enjoys the music, the dance and the energy of the moment. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced dancer, our SalsaJam parties will have everyone feeling welcome and included.
I remember the best parties I attended when I first started learning, were the ones where experienced dancers encouraged me, danced with me, and made me feel part of the salsa family. That’s exactly the vibe we want to continue to have at SalsaJoy – a night where everyone feels like they belong, where we look out for each other, and where the music lifts us all.
Our parties are about more than just great music and dancing – they’re about community. It’s the kind of place where you can leave your bag or phone on a table, and you know it’ll still be there at the end of the night. That’s the beauty of the Salsa community – we look out for each other.
